Top 10 Fastest Ways to Memorize

by

Shhh… don’t let anyone else see this information, it’s as lethal as poison! Today I am going to reveal 10 Methods the pro’s use in order to memorize anything. Here is how to do it…

I urge you to close the door, turn off your cellphone and listen attentively. The following list contains ten proven techniques to memorize information, ready? O.K, here we go:

1. Don’t Let Yourself Be Disturbed
I used this technique in the beginning of this article ie. “close the door, turn off…”
You can’t memorize something if your mind is directed towards something else, concentration is essential!

2. Learn Mnemonics
Mnemonics is a type of memory aid that basically helps a person memorize data. The more information that needs to be remembered, the more complex the mnemonic becomes. The most common type of mnemonics in school are those that rhyme…

3. Thirty days hath September
Rhyme mnemonics are often used in school, why? Because they work! It’s an excellent way of remember lists (like all the months) but it can be used in other ways as well. In fourteen hundred ninety-two, Columbus sailed the ocean blue is a famous rhyme mnemonic used in schools, so start rhyming and less whining! (I am so lame BTW)

4. Form A Silly Sentence
What’s a silly sentence you ask? To clarify this, let us say we would want to memorize 3 Swedish Cities (starting from the biggest); Stockholm, Göteborg and Malmö. The initiating letters are SGM and a possible silly sentence could be:

5. Abbreviations Make Life Easier
Don’t you agree? We love to say UN, US etc. instead of The United Nations, The United States Of America (what made you chose such a long word, makes it hard on us foreigners by the way…).

6. Do It Like The Talk Show Hosts
All TV-show hosts use small flashcards to help them remember the content of the show, this is proven method to bring back memories swiftly. I recommend you use a small software called Cue Card, there’s a free version hosted right here on the site.

7. Gimmicks = Bad?
For some odd reason, this word seems to radiate negative emotions, probably because gimmicks are used so extensivley in advertisements. Anyhow, the use of word games or tricks can help you process information. Try it and buy it!

8. Mind Maps – Find Your Thoughts
I’m a huge fan of mind mapping, and I recommend you to use mind maps as often as possible. I’ve already covered how mind mapping is done so I won’t go into that again. Here’s a free mind mapping software by the way, hope you enjoy it!

9. Association – The Biggest Secret
It’s really a shame that I didn’t put this in the beginning of the article, I’m sorry I forgot. Association is basically the art of linking a piece of information to something else. What’s the first thing that hits your mind when I say the word SUMMER?

Did you think about heat, ice cream, vacation, swimming or anything related to those activities? We think about heat because we relate this word to the term summer, it comes naturally without any real effort.

This is perhaps the biggest memory secret around, learn how to associate the information you want to remember with some piece of information that you won’t forget. It works like a charm, I promise!

10. Always Explore New Methods
What better place to do that than right here! I’ve written a comprehensive Study Guide which covers this matter (How To Memorize Fast), but if you are not interested (which you should be… ^^) you can always Subscribe To This Blog. It’s free and takes only a couple of seconds (that is to say, if you still remember to do it!).

Did you like this article or despise it? Let us know what you feel by commenting. Stumbleupon users can stumble this post it if they’d like, have a nice summer guys!

Scientists Discover Reset Button For The Body's Clock

by

Jetting half way across the world, shift work and those crazy all-nighters are all things that can upset our body’s daily cycle, or circadian rhythm. Over the years, scientists have slowly been piecing together the components of our “biological clocks” that drive these rhythms, and we now have a pretty good understanding of how they are coordinated. Now, scientists have discovered what is effectively a “reset button” in mice, which could eventually help researchers develop novel treatments that correct mismatches between the environment and our internal body clocks.

Circadian rhythms are physiological, mental and behavioral changes that follow an approximately 24-hour cycle, which are primarily dictated by changes in light in the environment. These oscillations are driven by groups of interacting molecules in the body which are collectively known as biological clocks, and it is the job of a master pacemaker located in the brain to coordinate and regulate these clocks to make sure the body is in sync.

It’s been known for some time that this “master clock” is a bundle of neurons in a region called the suprachaismatic nucleus (SCN); however, scientists didn’t know whether altering the way that these cells fire could change how it operates. Now, researchers from Vanderbilt University have demonstrated that it is indeed possible to control the clock by selectively switching on and off this population of cells, which effectively mimics their daytime and nighttime activity.

In order to manipulate the activity of these neurons, the researchers used a sophisticated technique known as optogenetics. This involves inserting genes that code for light-sensitive proteins into distinct populations of cells, creating a bundle of neurons that now respond to light in a certain way. Then, after implanting an optical fiber into the brain, scientists can use lasers to either stimulate (switch on) or inhibit (switch off) these cells.

As described in Nature Neuroscience, the researchers found that by artificially stimulating the SCN neurons, they were able to manipulate the mouse’s sleep/wake rhythms, effectively resetting the master clock. This was particularly interesting because previous work suggested that the firing activity of these cells was only an output of the clock’s activity.

“Of course, this exact approach isn’t ready for human use yet,” said study author Michael Tackenberg. “But others are making progress toward eventually using optogenetics as therapy.” Tackenberg is now taking the work forward by examining whether mice suffering from seasonal affective disorder—a type of depression that has a seasonal pattern—respond to the stimulation.

An Evil Fetus Twin Sister Inside Her Brain

by

Yamini Karanam, a 26-year-old graduate student, was having trouble reading and having conversations so she decided to have her brain checked last September.

“If a couple of people were talking in the room, I wouldn’t understand what was happening. I just didn't imagine any of this,” the woman from Indiana told NBC Los Angeles.

Initially, the doctors thought Yamini had a brain tumor. However, the doctors were shocked with what they discovered after performing a keyhole surgery on her.

Inside Yamini’s brain, the surgeons found what seems to be her “evil twin sister”. Also known as teratoma, the tumor resembled a fetus and even had teeth, bones, hair.

Most teratomas contain teeth, bones, and hair but in some cases, these tumors have eyes, hands, feet, limbs, or torso.

For Yamini, it appeared that her “evil twin” has been tormenting her for the past 26 years.

Meanwhile, Dr. Hrayr Shahinian of the Skullbase Institute in Los Angeles said that it was only his second time to encounter such a case out of the 8,000 brain tumors he has removed.

10 Healthy Benefits of Masturbation

by

How do you like your ‘me-time’? Do you like to fly solo? Yes, we’re talking about good old masturbation.

And however you do it (or don’t do it), there is nothing wrong with taking some time to pleasure yourself, getting to know your body, and exploring what turns you on. And just as taking a shower should be a regular occurrence, so too should be cleaning your pipes, as the health benefits of masturbation are galore. Here are the 10 reasons why you should take matters into your own hands right now:

1. Manages Premature Ejaculation
Sex therapists across the globe have found that men who experience premature ejaculation during sexual intercourse can benefit from masturbation about 2 hours before sex. This enables them to have a longer duration of intercourse before another ejaculation comes on.

2. Prevents Prostate Cancer
A 2003 Australian study found that men who ejaculated more than five times a week were a third less likely to develop prostate cancer. Disease-causing toxins build up in your urogenital tract and when you rub one out, you flush the bad guys out of your system.

3. Makes You Harder
With age, you naturally lose muscle tone…even down there. Regular sex or masturbation works out your pelvic floor muscles to prevent erectile dysfunction and incontinence. It keeps the angle of your dangle perky. You must aim to (well!) arrive three to five times a week for rock-solid results.

4. Improves Sperm Motility
Some studies found that masturbation improves some quality and motility. “Theoretically, a man masturbating before intercourse releases the residual sperms in the semen transporting tubules. This paves way for new ‘better’ sperms which are released during the sexual act and increase the chances of conception, which can add to your health benefits,” says Dr Mahesh Nawal, an Indore-based sexologist and President of ASECT.

5. Helps You Last Longer
Taking yourself to palm prom may help you stretch your sack sessions. Train yourself by timing how long it takes you to orgasm, suggests Dr Nawal. If it usually takes two minutes solo, try for three next time. Or count how many strokes you need to get to your happy place. If you’re spurting after 50, shoot for 60. Practice makes perfect, right?

6. Reduces Nasal Congestion
Another small study demonstrated reduction of swelling of vessels in the nose during sex and masturbation. This theoretically may improve on symptoms of the common cold, hay fever, allergic rhinitis and other such health-related ailments.

7. Manages Stress And Depression
Masturbation has been used in the management of stress, as it results in release of feel-good hormones, called oxytocin, in the body. It has also been found useful in dealing with depression.

8. Ups Your Immunity
Ejaculation increases levels of the hormone cortisol, says Dr Ashish Sabberwal, senior consultant of urology, Fortis Escorts Institute, New Delhi. Cortisol, which usually gets a bad rap as a havoc-wrecking stress hormone, actually helps regulate and maintain your immunity in the small doses. “Masturbation can product the right environment for a strengthened immune system,” Dr Sabberwal says.

9. Boosts Your Mood
Masturbating releases a slew of feel-good neurochemicals like dopamine and oxytocin that lift your spirits, boost your satisfaction, and activate the reward circuits in your brain. An orgasm is the biggest non-drug blast of dopamine available, and benefits your health in more than one way.

10. Prevents Pregnancy And STDs
Last but not the least, this one is for both you and your girl! For couples not intending to get the girl pregnant, masturbation is a safe way of attaining sexual satisfaction without vaginal penetration which would otherwise lead to an unintended pregnancy. If the man’s penis is rubbed around the vulva and spills sperms there, there could be a chance of getting pregnant. Masturbation poses no risk of contracting an STD. However, mutual masturbation may however result in exchange of sexual fluids when partners touch each other’s genitals, says Dr Nawal.

As a last note, masturbation will not put hair on your palms, make you go blind, kill a kitten, cause infertility, or make you turn gay! What it rather does is allow you to understand your body better, help you to release tension and pursue sexual pleasure on your own, provide an option for a safer sex activity with partners, and let you explore your own fantasies. As the saying goes, who can really love you more than yourself?

LAW PASSED: HIV Positive People To Be Marked Near Their Genitals” Says Jacob Zuma

by

President Zuma signed a bill that seems to be one of the greatest steps in the history of trying to combat HIV.

From now on, every person who gets tested and is found to be HIV positive will not just get counselling and medication. They will also get a mark in form of a tattoo near their genitals according to the bill signed by the president.

Jacob Zuma after signing the bill,said ;

'' The mark is to protect those who can’t say no to sex. I mean if you can’t read between the lines you should read between the legs because that’s where the status would be tatted. The choice to be HIV positive is now in your hands or your genitals for that matter…. We also encourage those who had been living with the virus to go to the nearest public hospitals to get their status tatted in ''

President Zuma volunteered to be the first South African citizen to get his status tatted near his genitals and he also announced that the first 10 million people(who already tested positive) to volunteer to have their HIV statuses tatted on their genitals would be given a R50 000 funeral expense voucher.

South Africa wakes up each day to shock Africa, from xenophobic attacks to now marking HIV Positive people in their country. Are they animals to be stamped and marked so as not to be stolen? I feel that this is a discriminative move more than a helping one.

HIV may reach ‘uncontrollable’ rates in 6 PH CITIES – DOH

by

Among the 6 cities exceeding the national HIV prevalence rate of 3.5% among males who have sex with males (MSM), Caloocan City is the ‘most problematic’

The Department of Health (DOH) has warned that an HIV “concentrated epidemic” in 6 Philippine cities – half found in Metro Manila – may reach “uncontrollable” levels in a couple of years without the active cooperation of the public.

Dr Jose Gerard Belimac, program manager of DOH’s National HIV/STI Prevention Program, made the statement in a presentation in an epidemiology workshop conducted by the DOH on Thursday, April 9.

The DOH identified the 6 cities and their corresponding prevalence rate among males who have sex with males (MSM) as the following:

Quezon City – 6.6%
Manila – 6.7%
Caloocan – 5.3%
Cebu – 7.7%
Davao – 5.0%
Cagayan de Oro – 4.7%

“According to [the World Health Organization], ‘pag lumagpas yan ng 5%, in a matter of two years’ time, the HIV in these areas will really be uncontrollable already so lessons learned, huwag po talagang hayaan na umabot ng 5% yung HIV prevalence in any of the cities,” Belimac said in his presenation.

(According to the World Health Organization, if [the prevalence rate] exceeds 5%, in a matter of two years’ time, the HIV in these areas will really be uncontrollable already so lessons learned, let us not allow the HIV prevalence in any of the cities to reach 5%.)

This is based on experiences of other countries like Thailand, he said in an interview at the sidelines of the workshop, when asked to clarify his statement.
Caloocan city ‘most problematic’

Belimac said Caloocan is the “most problematic” city with a high HIV prevalence rate because most infections happen among male sex workers.

In Manila, most infections happen among males who have casual sex with other males.

The table below shows other high risk areas in the country:

  • National Capital Region (16 cities and municipalities)
  • San Jose del Monte, Bulacan
  • Antipolo
  • Cainta
  • Bacoor
  • Imus
  • DasmariÅ„as
  • Sta Rosa, Laguna
  • Davao
  • Angeles
  • Bacolod
  • Cagayan de Oro City
  • Zamboanga City

The DOH reported a total of 646 new cases of HIV infections in February – the highest number since the Philippines’ first case in 1984. This number translates to 21 new infections every day.

Most of the cases (586 out of 646) were infected through sexual contact. About 84% of the 586 cases are MSM.

Belimac said the HIV prevalence rate among MSM has dramatically increased since 2007, from 0.30% to 3.50% in 2013.

This means 3.5 out of 100 MSM are infected with the virus.

Males who have sex with males0.30%1.05%2.12%3.50%

On condom use to prevent HIV infection, Belimac said in Filipino, “We cannot force those who don’t want to use condoms.”

He said that the condom use prevalence among MSM is at 35% – far from the government target of 80%.

The DOH is currently doing behavioral, bio-medical, and structural interventions to control HIV infections among Filipino MSM.

The health department’s National HIV/STI Prevention Program has a 2015 budget of about P500 million ($11.24 million), 60% of which will go to the treatment of patients.

The Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) said the Philippines will not meet the HIV/AIDS targets in the 2015 Millennium Development Goals.

HIV Virus Deleted From Human Cells For The First Time

by
Ever since AIDS has been ravaging societies, scientists have been put at work to find a cure. A new study has shown that the virus can be deleted from human cells by introducing a nuclease-RNA molecular tool which acts on the genome of the virus. These results could potentially provide the building blocks for an HIV vaccine.

HIV Dethroned From Human Cells

One of the deadliest diseases plaguing societies worldwide is AIDS (acquired immunodeficiency syndrome) caused by the HIV virus. The virus is an extremely potent one as it directly targets the immune system, thereby preventing the body from defending itself against the intruder, while the latter continues to propagate itself throughout the body. The cells of the immune system function as the police force of the body, getting rid of any intruder that could potentially harm the body.

The HIV virus, however, cannot be done away with because it neutralises these very cells, stripping the body of its ability to fight harmful pathogens. That is how the virus replicates and keeps on replicating. Removing the virus from the cell it has claimed as powerhouse to fuel its replication has so far remained an impossible task for scientists. The mode of action of viruses is to use the cells structures to their own advantage. Once they enter cells, they hijack everything, and pronounce themselves the new owners of the cell machinery. However, recently, some scientists from Philadelphia have managed to devise a method by which the HIV virus was fully erased from human cells. Maybe, it is the beginning of the end of HIV’s reign over mankind?

HIV-1 Virus Successfully Deleted From Human Cells

The team of scientists successfully deleted the HIV-1 virus from human cells. One of the authors, Kamel Khalili, expressed very positive words concerning the results of their study as follows: “This is one important step on the path toward a permanent cure for AIDS.” The study was published in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

Enzyme-RNA Combination Deletes Potent HIV Virus
The scientists manufactured a set of molecular tools to erase the HIV-1 proviral DNA. DNA can be chipped off by certain enzymes through specific binding. These enzymes are called nucleases. The nuclease was combined with a strand of RNA called a guide RNA (gRNA). This newly-engineered molecular bullet looks up the genome of the virus and deletes the HIV-1 DNA. Once this is done, the virus is no longer as powerful. The human cell takes regains control over itself, and gets its own self repaired.

The nuclease-RNA combination might be used to engineer a therapeutic vaccine.

Cure For AIDS Might Soon See The Light Of The Day

The next step would be to work out the ways to use the new method in clinical trials. From there on, it would be determined whether the effects would be positive on humans – for that to happen, every copy of the HIV-1 has to be done away with from the cells of the patients. If this becomes possible, AIDS patients will be cured.

Donate a Testicle The payout for this is $35,000

by

Donate a Testicle The payout for this is $35,000. Need some EXTRA CASH? If you want to help the science community and line your pockets with a little bit of money there are some unconventional ways to do this by selling your body to science. Below is a list we found of the 5 most creative ways to make money by selling your body

1. Sell your blood plasma. The payout $20-$50 per donation

Plasma is a clear liquid that contains mostly water but is also filled with enzymes, proteins and antibodies. It is the largest component in the human blood. Plasma is mainly used to create therapies that treat people with autoimmune diseases, burn victims and clotting disorders. When blood is being drawn an automated machine separates the plasma from the other blood components which is then returned to the donor. You can receive a payout between $20-$50 per donation.

2. Donate your reproductive cells. The payout for eggs is $5,000-$10,000 per donation. The payout for sperm is $30-$200 per donation.

Egg donation allows women whose ovaries do not produce healthy eggs to become pregnant using another woman’s eggs. In the United States egg donors can receive anywhere from $5000-$10,000 per donation. Men can donate their sperm with a much easier process and also a bit less lucrative than an egg donation. Men are paid anywhere from $30-$200 per donation. However that can add up to more in the pocket because men can donate hundreds of sperm samples.

3. Lay in bed for 70 days straight. The payoff for this one is $18,000

NASA uses this procedure to simulate some of the changes that occur in an astronaut’s body when going through space, weightless, during the flight. NASA will pay you to stay in bed for 70 days, 24 hours a day. You need to make sure you’re mentally prepared to spend 70 days in bed. Not everybody is comfortable with that. Not everybody can tolerate an extended time in bed. But remember the payout for this one….. $18,000!

4. Donate a Testicle. The payout for this is $35,000

On a episode of “Extreme Cheapskates “a Las Vegas man figured out a way to make some money by signing up for medical trials. He saved himself more than $750. That inspired him to take it one step further. Most recently he also agreed to donate one of his testicles. But they didn’t just leave him hanging. They replaced it with an artificial one and paid him $35,000. It was reported that he used the money to purchase a Nissan 370 Z.

5. Enroll in psychological studies. The payout varies per program

Paid psychological studies that examine behavior of brain function may not generate as high of a return as other trials, but they’re usually lower risk and require shorter commitment time. Most research universities offer easy sign up by keeping an online database of studies available for people

Boy Had 232 Teeth Removed From His Mouth

by

In a rare medical case, a team of doctors at state-run JJ hospital extracted as many as 232 tiny teeth from a 17-year-old boy’s mouth in a six-hour long surgery conducted on Monday. Interestingly, doctors claim that the total count of minuscule teeth was far greater than 232, after which they gave up on counting and focussed only on removing them.

Aashiq Gawai, a tenth standard boy from a remote village called Valsavangi in Buldhana district, started developing abnormally fast growing teeth, four months ago. While initially, his parents ignored the peculiar growth, tension grew when his right lower jaw started to swell.

“I did not have much money and we could not understand what was wrong with my son. We first visited a private doctor after which we went to a public hospital in Aurangabad. The doctors in Aurangabad referred us to JJ hospital, stating that it is out of their medical expertise,” said Suresh Gawai, Aashiq’s father.

Gawai, who cultivates cotton in Valsavangi, can hardly speak Hindi. He still cannot understand the medical anomaly his son developed. With no money in his pockets, he reached Mumbai and admitted Aashiq to JJ hospital on July 1.

Later, he was informed about the Rajiv Gandhi Jeevandayee Arogya Yojana, a scheme that provides free medical treatment to poor patients, and enlisted his son under the scheme.

On July 21, during a six-hour long surgery, a team of doctors removed the abnormal growth of teeth from Aashiq’s lower jaw.

“The abnormal growth was a benign tumour. He had a normal jawline, but one molar tooth in the lower jaw had given birth to hundreds of tiny teeth. There were clusters of tooth buds in his lower jaw,” said Dr Sunanda Dhivare, head of dentistry department at JJ hospital.

The doctors in the hospital themselves admitted to having witnessed such a condition for the first time. ENT surgeon Dr Vandana Thorawade said during the surgery, they ensured that the patient’s face symmetry did not change.

“The bone around which the tumour was attached had become brittle and thin. That was the only complication. We could not let that bone break and so we slowly removed one tooth after another,” Thorawade added.

At present, he is on a liquid diet and should be able to eat solid food in a few days.

Intelligent People Stay Up Later Than You

by

There’s an electricity in the moon. A pulse, a magic, an energy. A bewitching entrancement unlike that of the sun.

The moon is for things unseen, things done in the shadows and beneath the fog. Under bridges and beneath bed sheets — it’s for wild hearts and unconcerned minds. It’s where plans are made in dark alleyways and secrets revealed under the soft haze of light coming through the cracks of closed shutters.

It’s when fugitives escape and kids run away. It’s when girls lose their virginities on torn leather seats and boys get into trouble. It’s when the suffering take their lives and the lonely seek comfort.

It’s when we fall in love — that passionate, all-consuming, purposeful love that always looks a little different in the light of day.

It’s by night that we see our true desires. We reflect on our moments of unhappiness and those yearnings that are momentarily blinded by the sun. It’s when we become poets and philosophers, martyrs and murderers.

It’s when we form regrets of days past and that profound hatred for those who hurt us. It’s when we choke on our tears through deep sobs that can only pour onto dark pillowcases.

The night is for passion. It’s for fanaticism, romance and trouble. It’s when your most tender, authentic and suppressed sides come out to play under the nonjudgmental eyes of the stars.

It’s for all those things you could never dream of doing by day, under the watchful eyes of the sun.

It’s no wonder night owls are more intelligent than those who hit the hay early. It makes sense that those who absorb the energy of the moon are more creative and open-minded than those who like to catch the early worm.

It’s only natural that those who go to bed earlier never experience the psychological and emotional changes that occur under the blanket of darkness.

According to ”Psychology Today,” intelligent people are more likely to be nocturnal than people with lower IQ scores. In a study run on young Americans, results showed that intelligent individuals went to bed later on weeknights and weekends than their less intelligent counterparts.

In ”Study Magazine,” Satoshi Kanazawa, a psychologist at the London School Of Economics And Political Science, reported that IQ average and sleeping patterns are most definitely related, proving that those who play under the moon are, indeed, more intelligent human beings.

His analysis goes back to ancient times, asserting the idea that even in primitive years, people have been known to rise and fall with the sun.

Average brains were conditioned to follow this sleep pattern, while the more inquisitive, intellectual ones want to defy that pattern and create their own.

It’s an unconscious defiance that comes from refusal to acquiesce to the idea of mass appeal.

These findings are reported by “Study Magazine” as such:

Bedtimes and wake-up times for Americans in their 20s by IQ.

Very Dull (IQ < 75)
Weekday: 11:41 pm -7:20 am
Weekend: 12:35 am -10:09 pm

Normal (90 < IQ < 110)
Weekday: 12:10 am -7:32 am
Weekend: 1:13 am -10:14 am

Very Bright (IQ > 125)
Weekday: 12:29 am -7:52 am
Weekend: 1:44 am -11:07 am

Those with IQs less than 75 went to bed by 11:30 pm on weeknights in early adulthood, whereas those with IQs over 125 went to bed around after 12:30 am. This is no coincidence.

The data supports the notion that all night owls feel: the only real time for living is after everyone’s gone to bed.

Only after dark can we learn, absorb and study the effects of the day. It’s a necessary self reflection that few humans take the time to make.

There’s something to be said about those who fight the urge to sleep and explore that block of uncharted time that so many who always have their eyes closed will never see.

They Get Time To Daydream

All those dreams you can’t have during the day, when you’re snapped out of them by friends, family and work, are finally given time to run around.

Free to play in the open spaces of your mind, you can swim in all those thoughts you hid under your desk or behind mounds of paper work. It’s the most creative time of day, along with the most liberating.

It’s by the nightfall that your most uninhibited and passionate sides are explored. It’s the time to unleash your innermost desires and allow yourself the freedom that’s masked behind the taunting exposure of sunlight.

The night is for testing your limits and challenging yourself. It’s for discovering those passions you suppress all day and breaking down all those rules your parents made to protect you.

It’s the time to dig into those hidden corners of your mind and unknown trails of your subconscious. It’s a time of self-expression that can only be unlocked at night and evaluated by day.

They Are Anti-Establishment

Staying up late has been, and always will be, an act of rebellion. A defiance of the nine-to-five, the very habit of staying up late is revolutionary. Since ancient times, there is evidence that society condoned the night owls.

In the academic paper, “Why The Night Owl Is More Intelligent,” published in the journal “Psychology And Individual Differences,” it’s widely assumed that for several millennia, humans were largely conditioned to work during the day and to sleep at night.

While those who defy the trend, are more likely to “acquire and espouse evolutionarily novel values and preferences than less intelligent individuals.”

These “novel values” become the building blocks of leaders. They are the makings of revolutionaries, inventors and explorers. They are the ones who makes sacrifices and defy the societal pressure to follow the masses.

It’s no surprise that those willing to stay up late, to explore the uncharted territory of night, are more inquisitive.

They are more apt to make discoveries and challenge authority. They want to expand their mind, not shut it off just because people tell them it’s time for bed.

They Are More Open-Minded

Things that happen at night are things you can’t get away with during the day. It’s the time of utter licentiousness, of underhanded transactions and unseemly occupations.

It’s when the bars are opened and the poets write. It’s when musicians pore over instruments, geniuses have their breakthroughs and artists come alive. According to “Esquire,” it’s also when you have the most sex.

Healthy sex lives and late curfews are indeed, positively correlated. Those reported to have later bedtimes were buying more sex toys and having more sex than their sleepier counterparts.

One sex shop worker believes that intelligence is correlated with open-mindedness, which in turns correlates with a more open sex life.

Those who are willing to stay awake, who yearn for the mysteries of nightfall, are exposed to an array of discoveries that those who stay asleep will never know. It’s those who are willing to test their limits and explore in the dark who will bring more light to the day.

They Are Proactive

The early bird may get the worm, but the night owl gets the whole jar. While the early risers may get up to see the first worm crawl its way to the wet surface, the night owl gets to them before they burrow under.

Getting up early is most definitely proactive, but staying up late is just as fruitful. Those who stay up get hours ahead, rather than the one or two an early riser gains.

There are things to be explored at night that early risers will never experience. There are ideas formulated and tasks completed that early risers never get to finish.

Because at night, there is dawn and a new day in front of you. But by morning, there’s just the bleakness of night and the daunting end of another day.
